I have always attempted to be healthy but decided to take it to an extreme and compete in a bodybuilding show. After attending a show to see what it was all about in the summer of 2002, my goal became to be on the stage by the summer of 2003. I had a lot of work to do. At that time I was weighing nearly 170 pounds. Immediately, I started dieting and lifting heavy weights. I had already been lifting for about two years at that point so I had somewhat of a base. I lifted weights and did various cardio six times a week. By my first show in June 2003, I had lost over thirty pounds. I competed in the 2003 Forever Natural Southwest Classic Competition in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I came in third place in the Figure Division. I had so much fun I decided to do another show later in the summer. I kept dieting and lost another five pounds. For my second show, I took fifth place in figure at the NPC Mid USA Competition.
I have entered into three shows in the Bodybuilding divisions this year. I received the First Place Novice Tall, Novice overall, and Second Place Open Tall in my first show the 2004 Forever Natural Southwest Classic. The second show I received the MID USA Female Teen First Place award and the Mid USA First Place Novice Heavyweight award. My third competition was the ANBC Nationals. I placed third in my division, and most importantly was the only competitor under the age of twenty, most being over the age of thirty.
My major in school is Exercise Science and I will minor in Nutrition. I plan on going to Physical Therapy school when I graduate.
My workout routine includes running, swimming, elliptical skier machines, or the revolving stair climbers daily. I also teach Cardio Kickboxing classes three times a week, and sporadically teach Yoga, Stretching, Step, Toning, or Abs Classes. I lift weights and do abs at least five days a week. I always vary my weight routine with new moves and techniques to keep my body improving in strength and appearance.
I am looking forward to competing more, but the exact competitions have not been decided. I am looking into competing at Nationals again this November.
